Multiuser Detection in Asynchronous CDMA using PDA
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Probabilistic Data Association (PDA) method is extended to multiuser detection over asynchronous Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communication channels. PDA models the undecided user signals as binary random variables. By approximating the Multiple Access Interference (MAI) as Gaussian noise with an appropriately evaluated covariance matrix, PDA updates the probabilities associated with user signals iteratively. A sliding window processing is used during the updates in order to avoid considering the entire data. Computer simulations show that the probability of group detection error of the proposed PDA method is very close to the performance lower bound. The computational complexity of the PDA detector is O((2h + 1)K) per time frame where K is the number of users and 2h+1 is the width of the processing window. Relations between the proposed PDA detector and the PDA detector for synchronous CDMA is also shown.

A PDA and Kalman Smoothing Approach to Multiuser Detection in Asynchronous CDMA
Abstract The optimal maximum-likelihood multi-user detection problem in synchronous Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is NP-hard; the asynchronous version of the problem is super-exponential. The computational difficulty has driven research into suboptimal algorithms that provide reliable decisions and ensure polynomial computational costs. The Probabilistic Data Association (PDA) method, or...
متن کاملA sliding window PDA for asynchronous CDMA, and a proposal for deliberate asynchronicity
This letter contains two parts. In the first part, the probabilistic data association (PDA) method is extended to multiuser detection over symbol-asynchronous code-division multiple access (CDMA) communication channels. A direct extension as well as a sliding window processing method are introduced. While achieving near-optimal performance with ( ) computational complexity in synchronous CDMA, ...
متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...
متن کاملImproved Multiuser Detection in Code-division Multiple Access Communications
In Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communications, Multiuser Detection (MUD), that reduces the multi-access interference (MAI) and that solves the near-far problem, has been widely studied for over 15 years. Since optimal multiuser detection is generally NP hard, many sub-optimal algorithms that provide reliable performance and ensure polynomial complexity have been proposed. However, ther...

A Probabilistic Data Association (PDA) method is proposed in this paper for multiuser detection over synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) communication channels. PDA models the undecided user signals as binary random variables. By approximating the Inter-User Interference (IUI) as Gaussian noise with an appropriately elevated covariance matrix, the probability associated with each u...
